With Forbidden Fruit kicking off this year\u2019s run of Irish music festivals, let’s rank how *camp* the top six big 2024 festival lineups are.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
6) Longitude<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Starting with the LEAST camp, I don\u2019t think anyone will be surprised that it goes to Longitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We see you Doja Cat, but Longitude is the closest thing Ireland has to straight pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From Becky Hill to Belters Only, \u2018Longi\u2019 is so straight they don\u2019t even have a campsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5) Sea Sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Lads, there is some variety with this lineup, but any festival that encourages BMXing was only going to get so far on this list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4) Forbidden Fruit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Okay, now we are getting somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I know people who would give a limb to see Nelly Furtado on the Sunday of Forbidden Fruit – and they are dead right too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Forbidden Fruit have also done a wonderful job of championing up-and-coming Irish talent with the likes of Chubby Cat, Cooks But We\u2019re Chefs and Puzzy Wrangler (the name alone gets major points from me).<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3) All Together Now<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I am honestly still thinking about ATN\u2019s Sugarbabes set from 2023\u2026 oh how I wish to relive it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m not entirely sure if \u2018Smack My Bitch Up\u2019 The Prodigy gets any camp points, but Declan McKenna certainly does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sing Along Social were fantastic craic at All Together Now last year, drawing a massive gay crowd. The group \u201cspecialise in singing parties designed for people who can’t sing\u201d – guaranteed high energy, pop, campy fun – and are back at the festival this year too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2) Beyond The Pale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jungle, Jessie Ware, Courtney Barnett,\u00a0need I say anymore?<\/p>\n\n\n\n More than that, Beyond The Pale has a whole host of brilliant LGBTQ+ homegrown talent with the likes of Ailbhe Reddy and Elaine Mai to name just a couple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Plus listen, Beyond The Pale is in Glendalough, she\u2019s camp!<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1) Electric Picnic <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The decision to put Electric Picnic at number one will come as no surprise. Bagging the Princess of Pop, Ms Kylie Minogue, as their Sunday headliner was a stunning move by EP – and having Raye on the mainstage just before? The organisers knew their audience, and I\u2019m not mad at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, with Noah Kahan and Gerry Cinnamon headlining on the Friday, we were verging into \u2018straight pride\u2019 territory.
