{"id":2107,"date":"2024-08-05T08:53:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T08:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-gaystarnewscouk.gmg-staging.link\/?p=2107"},"modified":"2024-08-05T14:40:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-05T14:40:06","slug":"another-drag-queen-is-suing-laurence-fox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev-gaystarnewscouk.gmg-staging.link\/index.php\/2024\/08\/05\/another-drag-queen-is-suing-laurence-fox\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Drag Queen Is Suing Laurence Fox"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em> star Nicky Doll has taken legal action against actor and right-wing commentator Laurence Fox after he described drag artists performing in the Paris Olympics opening ceremony as \u201cdeviant little pedos\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thenickydoll\/status\/1817447234436554943\">X (formerly Twitter)<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event on 26 July, Nicky &#8211; known as Karl Sanchez out of drag &#8211; was among a group of drag artists who portrayed Greek gods in what some believed to be a parody of \u2018The Last Supper\u2019 by Leonardo da Vinci.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the performance, Fox said: \u201cNo point in getting wound up when the child f***ers want to wind you up. Just laugh at the deviant little pedos. Eternity is a b***h.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two days later, Nicky vowed to take Fox to court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince you didn\u2019t learn the first time around when you called my friend @crystalwillseeu a pedo,\u201d she wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thenickydoll\/status\/1817447234436554943\">X<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m going to show you that you don\u2019t get to write things like that about queer people for the fun and the misinformation of it and go away with it. See you in court, again, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LozzaFox?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LozzaFox<\/a>! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i3i9BnGWXY\">https:\/\/t.co\/i3i9BnGWXY<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Nicky Doll (Karlize) (@thenickydoll) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thenickydoll\/status\/1817447234436554943?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The star\u2019s lawyer, Anne Sophie-Laguens, has since <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thenickydoll\/status\/1819457472463249754\">issued a statement<\/a> confirming that Nicky has indeed followed through with her promise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStop Homophobia lawyers have received numerous reports of incitement to hatred, insults, online harassment, threats and defamation,\u201d the statement read.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It went on to say that Nicky has faced \u201can unprecedented wave of animosity and malice\u201d since her Olympics performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese messages go far beyond artistic criticism and for some convey odious and defamatory amalgams, equating drag performance to pedophilia,\u201d the statement continued.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese comparisons are serious and unacceptable. It is in this sense that justice has been seized, and that any publication or message equating Nicky Doll\u2019s performance with the encouragement of pedophilia practices will be reported.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fox recently lost a High Court libel case filed by \u2018Drag Race UK\u2019 alum Crystal and Stonewall trustee Simon Blake after he falsely branded them \u201cpeadophiles\u201d on social media in October 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was ultimately ordered to pay \u00a390,000 per person in damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can watch the full Gay Star News x
